Testimonials of Faith Primary School
formerly known as St. John's Primary School
My son, Joshua, is a 2nd grader at St. John's Primary School. Joshua has learning problems, so the right school is very critical. When we moved to Virginia in 2005, he entered the 1st grade at a different school. The year was met with academic frustrations, lack of confidence and poor motivation. I didn't want Josh to struggle again when he went to 2nd grade. A friend of mine told me to look into St. John's.
When I met with Amy Warren, the head of the school, and the 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Covert, they explained how they could help Josh. I sent him to St. John's with optimism. Josh has been at St. John's for six months now, and is excelling in all academic areas. His self-esteem has increased and he loves to go to school and he especially loves to learn.
When you have a child with learning problems, you realize you only have one chance to educate your child. Why not give your child the best start at St. John's Primary School?

Our daughter has attended St. John's Primary School for the past 3 years and most recently returned after one semester back in the public school system. We first attended St. John's when our daughter was entering the first grade. After kindergarten, our child had regressed since her last year at preschool. We were searching for a smaller atmosphere in which our child would receive a Christian based education. We wanted her to receive a strong foundation to foster learning as well as the academic tools needed throughout her entire education.
That summer the head of the school took time in her summer to tutor our daughter so that she would be up to speed for the first grade at St. John's. In three years, she received that and so much more. Academically, she developed a wonderful love for learning and confidence in her abilities. Socially, she developed wonderful friendships that will last a lifetime as well as a true respect for others.
After careful consideration, we decided to leave St. John's in the fourth grade to acclimate our child back into the public school system for the remainder of her education. After finishing one semester of fourth grade, our daughter lost interest in school and she just wasn't herself. She actually stated she would like to be back at St. John's. As parents we missed the satisfying feeling that were providing our daughter with the best education possible. We missed the close communication between the teachers and the parents.
In January, we made the decision to come back and we were welcomed back with open arms. It has only been a few weeks since returning to the school and our daughter jumped back into class, began enjoying school again, and she has returned to her old self again. We are eternally grateful for all St. John's has done for our family and we pray that the fifth grade will become a reality.
The teachers of St. John's Primary School understand that all children are blessings and they all have gifts to give. In a small loving atmosphere, they are able to foster, encourage and motivate children at all levels. They teach from the heart and they see teaching as a ministry to the community, not just a job.

St. John's Primary School has been such a blessing to our family. Our oldest child had gone three years to public school, and came out a withdrawn and sullen child. She would not take responsibility for herself and took no joy in even some of the simplest of tasks such as reading. After the second semester of her first year at St. John's, there was a vast improvement. She got her smile back, she loved to read, and the wonderful imagination, and animation that she had had in kindergarten was back. My child was back. I credit the wonderful, caring staff at the school for her improvement.
The Lord was truly directing our path when we found St. John's. The best part is that St. John's is non-denominational and we did not have any concerns over doctrine. Also the class sizes are such that when a child needs help, a teacher can take the extra time needed to guide and direct them. By the end of the school year that year, we also were experiencing financial difficulties and were uncertain we would be able to re-enroll both of our children, until Mrs. Warren offered us quite a substantial scholarship. That is how much she cares about the well-being of our children. Thank you to Mrs. Warren and all the teachers at the school for your love and dedication.

St. John's Primary School became a part of our family's life in the Fall of 2006. Our daughter Helen had just turned five and kindergarten was THE starting point.
Helen is a delightful child, but her willful nature had made it difficult for her mother and I to teach her anything. When Helen knew her colors, she would never say red was red.
Along came the outstanding, dedicated teaching staff at St. John's Primary School. The children are educated and nurtured along with emphasis on phonics, writing, and arithmetic. Helen went from an inability to recognize any number or letter to a student who could read, write and add numbers up to 20. This was kindergarten. A good start is everything. St. John's provides the opportunity that is so important. In the school's nurturing environment, children are encouraged and challenged. The human's mind is amazing. I've had a delightful experience of seeing my little girl lying on her bed reading books. All the credit for the transformation rest in the school, its direction, its roots and its dedicated hardworking, committed teachers.

Jon and I can't say enough about Mrs. Warren and the staff at St. John's and how they provided our children with the necessary academic and social tools they needed to succeed. They showed a high level of professionalism and care, and by doing so, made a perfect fit for our children!!!
