In June of 2007, the school that was known as St. John's Episcopal Primary School changed its name and moved to a new location. The same strong, reading based academic program available for the last 13 years is still offered at Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren. The school opens in the fall under the new name, Faith Primary School, and will continue to be an educational alternative for families in Waynesboro and the surrounding counties.
Faith Primary School has been welcomed into the life of Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren as a result of the church's interest in educating children in a Christian environment. Blue Ridge Chapel will operate a day care and a pre-school at the church, functioning as an educational and pastoral ministry of Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren. While operating at Blue Ridge Chapel, Faith Primary School will be self-supporting.
Faith Primary School is dedicated to the intellectual, cultural, social and spiritual growth of each student. The school strives to create a flexible but controlled environment that encourages creativity, self-discipline, and motivation to learn. The curriculum aims at developing strong academic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Academic studies also include history, geography and science as well as an introduction to music, art, physical development and computers. Special programs offered to students throughout the year include a "Math Heads" club, "The Great Artists" program and a Friday Night Prime Timereading night.
The school will continue to offer a multi-denominational education, using the same curriculum that has been a proven success for the past 13 years. Beginning in the fall of 2007, Faith Primary School will offer instruction for students from Kindergarten through grade five. Before and after school care will also be available.
